The boys will literally cry at the door when I leave and sit by the window waiting for me. They bolt to the door when I pull back up and swarm me when I walk in. I'm very confident my cats and dogs both love me dearly in their own weird little ways.

My sister once called me "dumb" for putting a bit of my blanket on the floor for the dog because "a dog don't care if they lay on the cold floor or not." Now my dog is a blanket thief who will pull the blankets off my bed if there's no spot on the floor for him that's blanket covered and refuses to lay on the actual floor unless it's hot and he's trying to cool off.

Who was that one writer who didn't get out of his chair all day because he had a cat sleeping in his lap? Except in my case if my dog's sleeping anywhere and refuses to move he will simply not be moved because he weighs like 500 pounds.

 

They have their own blanket for the floor, and if I forget to pull it out of the dryer fast enough, they will walk in circles for an hour. Sitting on the floor? Hell no!

 

compassionate != dumb. you're a good human and king's a happy blanket-thieving boy.

 

There's a lot of things dogs and humans have in common. Love for being cozy is one of them.
