    Just one small point about that. Tax wise, you would always be better off (or the same off) choosing to donate money from a hit like this than donating your own money and claiming a deduction. If you deduct it, your absolute best case scenario is not paying taxes on the amount of your donation. By giving away the money before it ever gets to you (like in the situation in this hit) you will never pay a tax on that amount of money.

    Of course, choosing exactly whom you give money to and the ability to give larger amounts is certainly a benefit of doing it the way you prefer.
