    Urban fantasy novel where a girl finds out she has magical powers, can't control them, thinks she killed her father and then runs away from home to live on the streets so nobody else she cares about dies. She gets roped into fighting a big bad evil dude who found her because he's trying to harness all the magic in the world to do something or other and she meets a bunch of underground magic-y types who help her learn to control her abilities and show her she doesn't have to run forever.

    Or something like that.
