    When my mom was trying to teach my sister how to cook, my sister was afraid of opening one of those. My mom kept trying to reassure her "It'll be fine. It's just a small pop." etc etc.

    This is my fear. I'm terrified of loud, sudden noises. When I was little I always wanted to go with Daddy when he'd do his gun practice (which was often, he was a cop), but the sound scared the daylights out of me and I'd start crying.

    I have not become any better with this. If a balloon pops near me I'll scream my fool head off. If someone "scares" me as a joke by jumping out at me I will literally start crying. It's really, really, really not funny (I've finally convinced people in my life to not do this, that it's not a joke to me...quite the opposite, feels like they're being deliberately cruel).

    All that said, I've never had the tubes make more than a small pop when opened, and granted I maybe open a maximum of 3 per year, but still. I just know one is waiting to go off like C-4 due to my completely irrational fear of loud noises/being startled. :emoji_joy::emoji_joy::emoji_joy::emoji_joy::emoji_joy:
