@SAJ Alright, I dragged this thing my in-laws gave us up from the basement where I hid it long ago. It's not at all my style, I accidentally walked through a spider web to get to it, and now there is glitter everywhere, but at least when my partner comes home he'll see lights on in the window. He better appreciate it

 

Learning new stuff is hard. I've been working on machine learning lately but additional info doesn't seem to want to get stuck in my brain the way it used to.

No need to apologize. That's an amazing thing to be proud of, and you should be proud of yourself just like she'd be proud of you. No matter how far you go, you'll still always be her daughter and always need her. It sucks and it's hard and at times feels impossible, but it's completely normal. I read something that was like, missing somebody isn't about how long it's been; it's about the moments you want to share and can't.

And sidenote, I'm proud of you too, and thanks for helping to make the country a beautiful melting pot, especially these days when it can't be easy to feel welcome.

this is my favorite explanation of grief. the whole "it gets easier" thing doesn't make sense to me personally. everybody grieves differently so if it doesn't resonate with anybody else that's fine, just sharing in case it helps anyone define their grief too.
