That's a heavy burden on your heart. I have to believe she can see you now and knows what you wanted to say.

 

So sorry to hear this - family relationships are complicated. My father and I are cordial, but I have much resentment towards him for many selfish things done over the years. The latest being the fact he got remarried and did not tell any of his children/family until after it happened...everyone has a story and yes, relationships that deserve repairing should be given a shot, agreed. But there are also people in one's family to avoid for your own mental health and I understand that point of view, too. Regardless, again, so sorry for your loss.

 

For myself...taking this long was to stay sober. The issues with them from the olden days (horse and buggy times ) were always a trigger for me to hit the bottles. I was getting close to knowing it wouldn't do that to me anymore and I thought we had many years ahead to fix the past. She just turned 65 in Sept I truly thought we had at least 10 more years.

 

I have to go to work so I stay busy...I want to thank you all and I'll be back another time.

 

Slightly different situation, but I can 1000% relate. Condolences and healing for you sir, it will get better, but it will feel like EONS. Here if you need.
