KNIT! I was just thinking I need to pick up my hook (crochet) it's like meditation for me.

 

my aunt and grandmother both used to crochet but since I'm left handed, they bought me a book to learn for myself. never got past making anything more than a basic scarf but I made a scarf... where's my cookie?

I mean, it was stupid tedious, should give us twice as much. I didn't make a ton of posts but at least half the days, and liked shit more than I needed to or usually would have because I could never remember how long I'd been on it earlier that day. Even put it on my overcrowded bookmark bar so that I wouldn't forget like I did last year... participated but didn't make all of the required days I think.

 

OH I AM A LEFTY TOOO! I found a beginners book that had both right and left pictures in it and taught myself, it's actually the reason I crochet instead of knit. Some righty friends tried to teach me knit and it just went... bad.

My mom tried to teach me when I really young but it never stuck. She's actually really good at it but I'll never forget this one time when I was a kid she wanted to crochet a nativity scene. She started with baby Jesus to test the waters and when she asked my dad if he knew what it was he said "a peanut?" The look on her face lol. Needless to say she did not continue with the project but that baby Jesus is still floating around somewhere in that house.

 

I wonder if we have the same book... the specialty knitting/crochet store actually had to order it for me. I think it had a red or burgundy something on the cover.

It's with all the Christmas decor I'm sure. I liked it a lot when I was little so sometimes she would just place it in another nativity set she had. One very oddly proportioned (compared to the others in the set) baby Jesus in a manger.

I am a lefty and taught myself to knit and crochet using videos for lefties.

 

It was years ago but I'm remembering red/orange.. so maybe? The chick in the pictures had long blond hair and the book came with a basic set of hooks.

I should try that. I probably still have my needle set somewhere. This was about 15 years ago so YouTube had less content like that back then.
