I tend to go with the requester is emphasizing that it comes from animals, and I am supposed to be shocked and horrified that they are using the skin from animals to make bags, while I'm sure what was underneath that skin contained yummy meat that was all eaten up, with the rest of the parts made into pet food, oil products, etc.
