    Nontechnical answer: It's a thing that lets one program submit requests to another program. So HIT Forker phones up the TurkerView API and says "yo! I need info about p9r!" And TurkerView says "Sup, here's some 4 month old information because some lazy bum hasn't run the update script in forever" and Forker goes "cool man, hope the kids are ok, we should have a bbq"

    And then it takes that data and puts it into the HIT row.
