It had been a long week. There wasn't much to look forward to these days since the day she left. I'll never forget watching as she backed down the long driveway and tearing off into the night. The smell of biscuits stinging in my nose. I didnt know weather or not she would be back that evening, but the oven timer had 15 more minutes left, and she knew damn well I didnt know what to do when the timer struck zero. I didnt know what to do with myself, nor those biscuits that lonely evening. I ate alone that night, smearing copious amounts of butter to cover up the blackness which were my biscuits. What did I do wrong to deserve this? Should I have left the biscuits in there a little longer? Maybe she had purposely put the timer longer because she wanted to give me one last gift. The gift of delicious dissapointment.

This was all in the past though as I stared through that oven window. I had gone to the gym, worked harder on myself, but there was one last thing I hadnt forgotten. One could say I had gotten over her, but the one thing I could never forget were those burnt biscuits. It was something I wanted to do for myself, to prove I could do it...
