Avoiding convenience foods and one can never have too much cayenne pepper. I listen to my child complain because pepperoni is spicy on his tongue. And I could never afford to buy fresh foods in the quantity my kids eat. They already attack my shopping bags and eat all the fruit the second that I walk through the door. And anything with too much seasoning, will probably be rejected.

Gonna make all the foodies vomit real quick.. Here's what I eat (in varying amounts) for probably 300/365 days a year since high school (sans a year I was traveling and got fat :():

    Fish
    Chicken
    Beans
    Rice
    Oats
    EVOO
    Eggs
    Veggies

All tossed into a crock pot together on sunday and portioned out for the week.

Food is for energy, not enjoyment. :behindsofa:

I guess it depends on the kid, cuz my parents raised me on spicy stuff. I'd have tears in my eyes but still eagerly eat the food cuz I loved it!

That sounds like the meals my dad made growing up. He called it Holy Moly. The fish/hamburger/hot pepper stir fry was by far the most memorable. In a bad way. My sister refused to eat and fighting ensued. I ate and puking followed.

So jealous. I am the only one that likes spicy food.

Keep an eye on the ad for your local store and wait for a really good meat sale. Then on Tuesday look at their next weeks ad and see if has even more specials. Then go on Wednesday which are double ad days when both ads are active and it would totally be worth an hour trip every few months to stock up on meat. Just get a few of those insulated cooler bags to keep things cool. All of their meat is hormone free, they don't inject it with anything to increase the weight and it's not frozen for who knows how long. It's really good quality. I routinely get boneless, skinless chicken breasts and thighs, pork ribs, beef and pork roasts, ground pork and chicken, pork shoulder steak, pork loin chops, and beef ribs for under $2/lb. Plus if they don't have any out they'll almost always go cut and package some up for you at the butcher counter.
