    Just want to add onto this piece, if you do use a "home office", it has to be a full room with a door that you can close off from the rest of the house. If you're ever audited, they can demand to inspect your home office, and if it's a corner of your living room or half your bedroom, it doesn't count. It has to be a quantifiable space.

    Source: I used a tax professional for help the first year I owned this house cuz I use the 3rd bedroom as a "home office" for my dayjob + mturk.

    But disclaimer: I'm not a tax professional, always confirm shit with a local tax professional.
