this make me want dumb tv's instead of smart tv's too. I don't know if we can even still get dumb tv's.

 

We're a little over three months away from cyberpunk 2020, but we all somehow still cling to the shared illusion that transnational megacorps aren't building a global control grid that will supersede governments and eventually create a permanent transient service underclass pacified by easy access to inexpensive recreational drugs and the glistening technological baubles placed on store shelves just in time for the holiday season.

 

my landlord sent maintenance to some of the apt's, including mine, to install listening devices on the backs of our ovens. they are always on and always listening. when they hear a smoke alarm in the apt, they supposedly shut off the stove burners or oven or both. the landlord said they are fire safety devices.

if they were actually about fire safety, they would have installed smoke alarms in the kitchens or at least near them. plus the fire dept. told us the fire extinguishers on the outsides of the buildings are never checked and are almost definitely full of water and nothing else. the landlord doesn't care about fire safety at all. sucks that you literally can't stop your landlord from spying on you.
