    In my case, my local bank was bought out by PNC. PNC issued me new numbers for their system, but said if I used my old numbers, it would automatically convert on their side and it'd be fine. I no longer use PNC though because eff them for a different reason (CC: @gurlondrums), so I can't tell you how it transferred with this payment system.

    I use Simple, which is online, there's no brick-and-mortar, but I haven't had any issues whatsoever. Not that you should have to get an entirely new bank account just for this, but in case you need something quick and easy, I can't recommend them enough.

    Oh yikes, that bites. I own my house so I can't beat up my landlord. Our basement is probably 80% or 90% finished, and we have all kinds of stuff in cardboard boxes in the small part that's unfinished, so just gonna have to suck it up and buy the water heater now on the premise we're really likely to need it soon anyway.

    But replacing all four toilets at the same time really wasn't what I planned. And getting a water softener installed at the same time, well that one was totally my wife's idea.
