Did you happen to message the requester? I would like to do more too but don't want a mass rejection either.

I did, but didn't actually do the second hit cuz I caught some other things. So we'll see if they take the time to reply and if there are still hits up if/when they do.

Beautiful morning here after Hurricane Isaias. Now, the long and more dangerous wait to see if the rivers flood. Thought you guys might like to see some shots from flooding in my county after Hurricane Matthew.

That is terrifying.. I hope everyone was able to get to safety. The scariest part to me is the bacteria that you know is in that water, all kinds of sewage that can give nasty infections.

It took weeks, as our river was already at flood stage when the rain started. We’re still seeing effects though. Some people that were displaced are still living in hotels four years later. There wasn’t a big enough FEMA response and our tribe is only partially federally recognized. We had two of these 500 year floods in two years, the last being Hurricane Florence.

A lot of people and animals died. They were doing swift water rescues from homes still a week later. Some people just wouldn’t leave their homes.

If ever there was a reason to take evacuation orders seriously...this would be it.

This is part that infuriates me about this stuff. If you want to put your own dumb ass on the line by being an idiot and not evacuating, great. Have fun with that. But first responders shouldn't have to go put their lives on the line to go rescue you when you had ample warning to get out of a bad situation.

Same, there were a few that couldn’t get out before but for the most part it was stubbornness. I was even more infuriated at the people driving through barricades into water and needing to be rescued.

I feel like humanity would be better off if we let nature take its course here.

ive said in cases like that where people refuse to leave, make them sign up a local form like a DNR and call it like Do Not Rescue. that way in case the stupidity shows through and they need to be resuced, they can get charged for it and make it not deductible from insurance and stuff.

I couldn’t evacuate because none of the hotels or shelters here accepted pets. Thankfully my house is at a higher elevation and didn’t flood. But I was prepared to get out with flotation devices if something happened. I couldn’t have left them. My husband is a first responder, so I also couldn’t go west and leave him here. There were so many different situations. But I don’t have sympathy for the ones that didn’t have circumstances and just ignored the warnings for Florence. But, for Matthew meteorologists kept telling us we weren’t gonna get a direct hit and not to worry because we were so far inland. I guess no one could’ve predicted it in a 500 year floodplain.
