    Make sure you get it in writing that the account is closed so you don't end up getting compounding late fees for the $.000001 interest that builds between time of payment and processing, plus account inactivity fees, all of which you don't discover until you go to buy a new car. You'd think I'm kidding, but student loan companies did some shady shiat back in my day if the accounts weren't 100% closed to new activity after payoff.

    Nope, but I'd only had a couple grand, not $20k, and I'd paid it off pretty quick, and the loan never got sold which was where things went sideways for people.
