I know he rejected a lot of people. I sent a message to him, but never heard anything back so I messaged the professor and the IRB of the school. Maybe a drastic step but considering this is my livelihood during the thing that shall not be named I don't like unfair rejections lol

I also trim my hair at home. The longer your hair is, the easier it is imo. If you're okay with adding some layers in there, gather in a ponytail on the top/front of your head, and just cut off all the dead bits. The ponytail placement will determine the level of layering you get, but also means you don't have to be super precise with the cut.

This is what I do too! All my hair is one length, and to keep it around the same length without the hair around my face being too short, I just take some on either side out of the pony tail.
