idk but they give you looks and tell you no if you ask now. and they know I like to pay with money orders so they tell me not to before I even try.

 

I'd just drop it in the mail slot but that's me. If it is really important your local rent board could help you with that probably. Might not be worth it though.

 

idfk fam that sounds sketchy af. We were forced to pay with money orders BECAUSE of other fraud. I really don't know how someone could fraudulently used a money order and even if they did you now have the fake money order and their name. Just go turn their Grinch ass in.

Money orders are just like cash. I don't get it.

 

I didn't know all that TY!!! they got rid of the drop box because it got stolen. they did set up a system where drug dealers in the parking lots can pay with cash, but they have to pay a small fee. they accept online payments, but there is a huge fee. I really miss money orders.

not my problem I just need a good bank account. this "Connect5" thing might work for turking. I'm going to call them and find out if they accept self employed. I will edit this to say if they say yes or no after I talk to them.

I just talked talked to them on the phone and they told me all this stuff -

"Bank5 Connect" does accept self employed. I just asked on the phone and the person I talked to confirmed it with someone else.

application process they told me takes 5-10 min.

they are an online-only bank.

you can live anywhere in the US. I think they said anywhere in the world but I'm sure it's anywhere in the US.

they have the option when you get an account to get a checkbook of 80 paper checks for free for your bank account. after that they charge $30.00 and up for each checkbook of 80-100 checks.

you can get paper statements in the mail but there is a $1.00/month fee for that.

no monthly or maintenance fees.

$1,000.00/day limit on spending with the debit card. they said you can get around that for things like paying rent but you have to call them because they will do a fraud alert and not let it go through until you call. but my old bank already does stuff like that and so does chime and probably others.

also the hold time when I called around 9:30 am MST today (a random Tuesday) was almost nothing, it was less than 30 seconds before I got a person. and they have live chat for if you don't want to call.

search for reviews different places online because some people had problems. most common 1 I saw was some people had a hard time opening an account because of their identity verification or whatever.

I don't understand why a check from online bill pay doesn't work. You schedule your rent payment to your landlord and it gets delivered on time, every month, and the money doesn't come out of your account until the payment date (not the day they mail your check).

Example, input address and name for a payee. Schedule a payment of X amount to that person and the 1st of the month. Check shows up by the first if not several days before in your persons mail. The check is post dated for the day you specify for payment. They cash like any other check. You are never late, don't have to keep track of it, don't have to travel anywhere, don't have to buy checks, don't have to pay for stamps, etc. I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to use normal checks anymore. I haven't had a actual checking account in like a decade.

But do what works for you/you are comfortable with.
