    I hate to sound negative, but no on the reheating - that won't change anything at this point.

    If something has been left out too long and is spoiled, you can't make it better again by reheating to a safe temperature. Once it's spoiled, it's spoiled. The reason is that past the two hour window you may have had toxins released by bacteria, and those toxins won't be destroyed by reheating.

    Past two hours, you just can't tell. Cold in the house? No difference. Lid on tight? No difference. The right/safe answer is you've got to bin it.

    That said - I've been pretty optimistic in the past and not had any nasty side effects. In your place, I'd probably eat it at least the first day and if I didn't get sick I'd keep going. If it did make me sick, I'd toss it. I also wouldn't give it to anyone with a potentially delicate digestive system (e.g. young kids).

    Also, what @laby said. You SHOULD be fine, tho be careful. In general, I like to stick with the 2+2+4 rule, which is refrigerate or freeze your food within 2 hours of cooking, store the food in dishes that are 2" or less (this is the rule I most commonly break, but it's basically so that your food will cool more quickly and uniformly, I moreso just don't leave a giant, deep pile of something hot in my fridge), and eat within 4 days. You'll probably be fine, but ymmv when it comes to upset tummies and such. Fwiw, I usually set an alarm when I sit down for dinner or whatever, so that I don't get distracted and forget about food I made. :)

    sure in a restaurant food safety be extremely cautious sort of way. (restaurants don't tend to actually follow food safety guidelines to the T, they just pretend to when the health inspector is there)

    but in all reality, sitting in a clean house and cold house. It's PROBABLY fine.

    I would eat the shit out of it.
