do you guys know if we have to pay taxes on robinhood? I have $18.50 in there. all of it is free bonus stocks from referalls except about 70 cents from stocks going up. I sold all the stocks I had. now it's $18.50 sitting there as cash in robinhood. no idea how to do taxes for that.

I gave up on turking and taxes. time for mozzerella sticks. but it's sort of cold here. is it warm where you are yet?

My understanding, and don't quote me on this, is that whenever you sell stocks you have to pay capital gains taxes, but there is usually a difference between short-term stocks (held for less than a year) and long-term (anything over a year) and what you will have to pay. If you still have stocks sitting there (even 'bonus stock' from referrals) I don't believe you will owe anything tax-wise until you sell it or cash it out.

Unless you get paid dividends. In that case you will get a form and need to declare the dividend payment.

Again, not an accountant - but that's my understanding. When in doubt I always ask my accountant

 

Yep it's definitely a spring-like 39 degrees here. I'm at the point of the season where I look at a warm 46 degree day and say "You're not fooling me - I know we can still get two feet of snow next week". End of April I will believe you

It was a little dry from me re-heating it in the microwave like 3 times now. But it was a giant portion and I was too lazy to reheat in the oven. I had plenty of sauce to help it though.
