If you know the researcher's name or details of the study (having the consent form would be best) and contact that University's IRB, you could probably get compensated for that. Especially, if you have messages/ emails with the researcher acknowledging that the blame is with her or the issue is on her end. Doesn't hurt to try.

In fact, even mentioning contacting an IRB to an academic researcher with a legit University has gotten unfair rejections reversed for me in the past. This actually happened to me last month on a $4 or $5 hit from a new researcher that set up her screener at the end of the study on accident and was trying to get out of paying, even though I did the full study. I would think something like that would be more likely with your situation, and the researcher just doesn't want to waste part of their budget on unusable data, even if it's their fault.

I didn't think it was possible for requesters to post hits, unless their account was verified and funded already to pay out, but I could be totally wrong on that part.

All is good, she paid me and followed up to make sure I was paid. It was just another example for me of how the good requesters have all left the party and are not coming back.

 

Here is her message me, I asked her why in the past her hits were paid out right away but I appeared to be waiting for day 30. I was hoping it would come sooner rather than later because it was a $20 hit which these days is a unicorn on mturk. She made sure I was paid a few days ago and told me she was headed to prolific. Amazon should treat requesters better. Things like this is why we have no requesters left on mturk.

Unfortunately, my requester account was permanently closed by MTurk because they were unable to verify my identity. However, MTurk had reassured me that any workers that were waiting on payment would receive an auto payment 30 days after the date that they took their survey. I am dismayed to hear that this wasn't the case for you. I will attempt to reach out to MTurk customer service to see what the issue is.

Speaking of surefire HITs, what HITs are perfect for meeting that 100 HIT requirement?
