So, I got a check from the county in the mail yesterday. Two days of jury duty, $38.74.
Checking my diary for those two days, I figure the jury duty ended up costing me right around $1,200.

The check expired 4/19.

Oh, the best part.
Two days spent in the juror pool, and neither day resulted in a trial, so the pool was dismissed. Both days were only credited as half days, even though the pandemic requirements caused each day to take 7 hours.

The check was only valid for 6 months, and it was issued the week the jury pool was dismissed.
I view it as an indicator of the competence of government, generally.

 

I got a ticket for turning right on red at a traffic cam stop. It arrived in the mail 26 days after it was past due. Fucking system.
