That is the thing I don't go anywhere I wouldn't be safe....so I have never used anything that required buying it or w/e

Once you remove the bloatware there is nothing wrong with prebuilts most of the time.. they just have bloatware on them because the manufactures are paid to install it.

The real question is what is worse.. Norton or McAfee....

The garbage that they try to put on the computers is almost always useless and sometimes harmful. Laptops sometimes have some useful stuff for features specific to the laptop but outside of that...

Hopefully it actually removes itself and you don't need to install the remover lol

But yeah windows defender and https://www.malwarebytes.com/ are the only thing you likely need to bother with and they are both free.

I dunno @hvnnvr might .. but I haven't used it in awhile.

 

Maybe stop by Ninite and grab Revo Uninstaller to really remove it and all the leftovers the unistaller may leave behind, like folders and registry entries.

When you buy a new computer, the first thing you should do is run PC Decrapifier.

No need to do that with windows 10. You can just use the refresh thing.

 

Although windows 10 comes with bloatware as well... but nothing nearly as malicious as the shit that I see thrown on cheap prebuilts lol. .. anyways I'm going to head to bed later all

 

Windows 10 has issues outside of bloatware. The data mining for instance.

Godsend when setting up a new computer for a friend of relative that is oblivious to tech.

 

Programs like McAfee and Norton especially leave tons of reg edits and fragmented files from the uninstall process. Even after uninstall I would look for something to check the uninstall for residuals as @EssArrBee & @Melting Glacier as others have suggested.

I usually take a system and wipe it day one and reinstall the os via a slipstream and away I go...
