Compulsively never having more possessions than you could stuff in your car at a moments notice is an added lifehack benefit

 

Don't get me started on how impatient I get because I'm always the first person done packing for literally any trip ever...

 

Yeah - for all the time we travelled across the country and just slept in the back of our car (or van) - I definitely have that nostalgia too.

Although I definitely now have a really healthy appreciation of showers, places to get showers, how long it takes to heat up a solar shower and also 12 volt everything. We were just reminiscing the other day about how we bought a cheap 12 volt/cigarette lighter plug-in sauce pot from a Flying J Travel Stop and then used it to pop popcorn while we were driving, make Annies Mac N' Cheese, etc.... lol

I still think it's pretty funny that we were listening to Phish or Frank Zappa and popping popcorn while we were driving

 

Yeah, once I run out of enough money to buy a motel for the night and have a hot shower the "homeless-by-choice" game stops being as fun

I hear you. I remember we scraped all our coins together for a shower at a hotel in Washington. And that the cheapest best value for showers were always Flying J's and they had well lighted parking lots for overnight parking.

We'd go miles out of our way to park at a Flying J because they were so much safer.

 

++ the money saved on luggage fees/back strain carrying that junk. I can travel anywhere for a week and only pack one duffel bag idk what these people with a 1,000lb luggage set are transporting but I know they deserve to lose every penny in extra fees they pay

I'm probably the lightest traveler known to mankind. The last time I flew I accidentally left one of my bags at customs and I never went to go get it because there was so little in there of value that it didn't warrant the drive to the airport they sent it to for me to pick it up
