@IcyTundra I replied to your comment on the last thread. I don't want to be the butt of Wednesday's jokes by trying to copy and paste stuff from there to here.

The original owners are in their 90's, so you can extrapolate from there. The garage/shop is a barn, with a small shed that was originally for goats.
There's 8 acres of woods, so it'll just be chickens. No time nor inclination for anything else. His business comes first, until I get back into a decent paying job and get him a CNC machine for Christmas. Then program it for him.
Oh jeez - yes sounds like just chickens is the best bet, but room for a lot more. :) A great set-up. (Keep the fences high though if you're backed up to 8 acres of woods... just sayin... )
Your dad must be a woodworker if you are looking of a CNC machine for him. All in all looks like he has a great overall layout.
What does he build?Last edited: May 27, 2020 -
So see above I think? :)Last edited: May 27, 2020 -
Sight adjustment tools for old military surplus rifles. The old ones, that you have to beat on the front sight with a hammer and punch to adjust. His slip over the barrel and sight base to stabilize it, and use a set screw to gradually adjust incrementally. And are reversible, so if you go 1/128" too far, you just turn it around and nudge it back. Ships about 10/day, and has a exclusive contract with a distributor for a certain model that orders 500 about every 3-4 months.
CNC is for metal or wood equally.Attached Files:

Wow. That is an oddly specific thing to manufacture! And definitely not where I thought "get dad CNC" was heading.
I was guessing drawers or custom doors.
What an interesting thing to customize. Do you work with him or is that something he has just specialized in over the years and you are helping him with? I'm assuming old muskets and bayonets but realize that what is "old" to me is not old to others :) -

He bought an old mid-1900's Russian milsurp rifle for like $20 and fixed it up. Got miffed at how he couldn't quite get the sights adjusted perfect, built the first prototype, and nailed a perfect bullseye on a rifle older than he was. Had a lightbulb moment and joined an internet forum and made a couple for a few friends he made on there. 1 or two every month turned into 20. I started doing traveling millwright work with a per diem so had a stupid amount of extra money one Christmas and asked him what he needed to really make it easier.
We haven't discussed it in the 10 years since, but I'll bet he cried a little when I sent him the tracking numbers for his new bandsaw and mill 30 minutes later.-

What an incredible story about 1900's millwright work and sights in such a niche market.
I hope your eye has healed and that you have fully recuperated and been able to see a doctor. I know how challenging that can be.
I DO hope when you get your dad his CNC that you'll take a little video. (But seriously you bought him a bandsaw?! That's epic.) -

I have a blood disorder and an autoimmune disorder - so a 2-fer :)
Who do you need to get to to get your CT ordered? It sounds like you are crossing specialists and they are not working together.
Would the CT be ordered by the ophthalmologist or your previous surgeon? -

Normally not affected by blood and gore - but the serial killers are so, so scary.
Also I probably would have died in about 10 second of this game. I didn't even get to the expansion!
