Guess lots of us getting storms and rain. Three days here in KY but we needed it. This morning a male cardinal and a few deer have passed through the yard. They are happy happy happy. I don't hear the baby hawks though, so I think they have finally flown the coop to go wherever they go.

 

How's the temperature been up that way? You getting a lot of heat? How's the humidity? I'm jealous of all the nature you get to see. The most exotic and exciting it gets in this place is stray cats and the occasional possum.

 

It has been in the 90s with heat index in the 100s and humidity so thick you can cut it with a knife. Spring and fall are temperate, but summer isn't so pleasant any more. Most of June was great and milder than normal. It's July and August that are so hot. I see those strays and opossum too, but not nearly as pleasant to mention! Let's see.... I've had to shoo out three bats this summer, and several of my friends have had the same issue this year. Not sure why THIS summer is so bad. Haven't had to do that in at least a decade.

 

Yeah, it definitely feels like the summers are getting hotter. With the heat index pushing things into the 100s down here too (I'm in Florida), I worry about vulnerable folks like the elderly. There are still households that don't have aircon, amazingly. So old school. I'm guessing this heat will hold out well into October this year. I'm just betting. Do the bats do anything to combat the mosquito population?

When I was a kid visited great aunt/uncle in Kissimmee and recall they has window unit in one room. Once left that room it was miserable! Yes, bats scare me, but they eat thousands of insects a night.
