It's possible. If you haven't already, try a different dvi-d cable. Moving it around from the card output to the board may have wiggled making it seem like the card output is at fault. I had a power cable for a monitor do that and made me think an output on my ups was bad when it was just the cable.

 

I tried another cable and another monitor. The cable works fine in the dvi-d port and the other monitor did not work with the dvi-i port, so I am pretty sure it is the input. My ethernet connection on the motherboard does not work anymore either... Odd how only a few things are not working. I don't have another ethernet cable long enough to test if it is the cable though so I dunno about that one.

This brings to mind that we all come from different backgrounds, have different things going on in our lives, and are turking for different reasons. Sorry to hear about struggles - wish I could help.
