The one time I decide hey that seems worth the trade off with doing an audio recording study and it breaks near the end and 2 hours might be wasted. Classic no communication with researcher. Took a screenshot of the error trying to submit with missing 20 questions or w/e. I am pretty bummed out right now to say the least.

EDIT: Approved! Another counterfactual for my doomer tilted mind. Too bad negative things have the power multiplier.

 

Searching for "other" platforms that aren't objectionable.
Objectionable ones tend to waste too much of My Precious Time.

Case in point, just the latest example of many. Spent 20 minutes including detailed writing for a major corporate client of one of the "testing" platforms. Of course at the very end, after the work, it said sorry they don't need my input. Because the platform is one that does that sometimes. Not a manual reject, it's an automated system behaving egregiously. Putting you through the whole task and then pulling the rug out.

Add up all the times that happens and other ways these platforms waste my time, and the necessary next step becomes obvious. Now's the time to abandon such platforms. They won't get better anytime soon. Wasting more time on them would be very foolish.

 

I'm "spoiled" by (relatively) "good-ish" platforms like Prolific and Connect and even Mturk.
There are some "bad things" that they generally don't do, that some other platforms routinely do.

I can't expect every other platform to behave well.
Many are awful. It is known.

I'm done with that platform.

 

Figured out what happened there (twice today).

That platform's tasks have tight quotas, limited to small numbers of workers, and those slots fill up very quickly.

If you're "lucky," you get kicked out at the start because the task is already full.

But if you're "unlucky" like I am — you get in, and you work the entire task, all the way through till the end ... and then the platform checks the quota again and says, sorry, all the completion slots are full, no payment for you! — Even though you've just finished doing the entire task! You go home with nothing but a big zero. No moneys.

This is really bad for "slow" workers (such as moi). – The more time I spend, slowly and carefully working a task, the more likely the faster workers will fill the completion quota before I finish.

 

i hate those other platforms too. seems like you just do endless demographics to finally be screened out. very amateurish.
