08/21 -Fix it ! Friday

This is actually a wild title coincidence because:

MTS Status Update:

• I've finally fully updated the extension to work in modern Chrome / Edge / any other Chromium-based browser. August 31st is Google's deadline to update your extension, and all outdated MV2 extensions will be nuked from Web Store after that, so there was unfortunately no more time left for me to procrastinate.
• While at it, I also fixed a few longstanding bugs. E.g. Alarm on individual Favorites in Finder now actually works correctly. HITs in Catcher are correctly numbered and don't bug out when you delete them like they did sometimes. Catcher used to randomly just stop catching on a rare occasion - that's fixed too. Among a bunch of other tiny things here and there.
• Added the Hide Maintenance Banner setting (it's on by default), which hides the banner at the top. So you won't need to have a separate script for that anymore.
• Fixed the auto-sync of Tracker data. You can, of course, go into Tracker and manually click on Sync to trigger a manual sync, but it will also now automatically sync itself roughly every day, but will only trigger the auto-sync when you actually turk that day. So if you don't turk for like a week and then open MTurk again, it will sync right then. This is just to make sure MTS doesn't keep contacting MTurk's servers if you don't even turk anymore or turk very sporadically. Additionally, the sync is now intentionally much slower, so that we don't eat a whole bunch of PREs and/or other weird shit happening just because Tracker is syncing.

I tested it all yesterday and everything appears to be working, but since it's a massive rewrite of some core parts of the extension, I'll test it some more today one final time, and if nothing breaks, I'll send it to @Kadauchi tomorrow and hope he's still interested and that he finds the time to submit the new version to the Chrome Web Store. I'll let you guys know when you can install it again in Chrome. And if you're still running it in Edge, it will update on its own once it's submitted+approved.

 

I can only open this forum today in Firefox. Chrome and Safari don't work. Is it just me?
