I wonder if there is a certain amount of years if you have been working consistently on Mturk with a 99% or above if you ever automatically get masters? haven't seen any new ones as frequently as I used to

 

From what I understand they don't give it out nearly as often as they use to several years ago. Last May, a *lot* of people got it (myself included), and it had been.. i dunno, over a year, since anyone had gotten it before then. Since last may, I think I've only seen random people get Masters when someone else had mentioned losing it.

 

i think masters went out in 2015, then nothing until may 2017 in what most people think to have been a fluke in the system and a matter of someone forgetting to flip the switch. it was probably supposed to be more frequent but wasn't. then again a few months later, then i think a third time shortly after that.

in all the years of people trying to figure out what it takes to get masters, there's never been a clear answer. there have been rumors and every rumor has been proven wrong by someone else getting it/not getting it that fits/doesn't fit.

rumor: taking time off, being idle for a few months. that's when i got mine back in 2015, but makes no sense, tbh, and active people obviously get it.
rumor: longevity. nope, a bunch of new accounts got it.
rumor: x% approved. nope, tons of masters with tons of rejections.
rumor: #x approved. nope, a few with very low numbers.
rumor: vary which type of work you do. nope. some survey-only people get it, some batch-only people get it.
rumor: doing specific batches. nope. (especially applicable to the first and last rumors.)

the only logical thing that's ever come up is demographics+account stats. since it's difficult to replicate exact situations and stats, it's difficult to rule that out, and you would think logically it's beneficial to spread it out that way rather than rolling the dice.

rumor: rolling the dice? more likely than not.

 

Yup, this is pretty much exactly what I've seen in the six years or so I've been turking. No rhyme or reason to it..
