I have this feeling that the entire movie, for me anyway, will hinge about how well Rebecca Ferguson plays Rose the Hat.

 

Movies are hard. There's always going to be a loss of a lot of character introspection and depth when adapting from a book because you simply cannot feasibly show what a character is thinking vs. what you can do in print.
