Matt thought that Long Island was like a teeny tiny thing with a tiny population until very recently.

Matt went to 3 private high schools and none were religiously affiliated. Just better schools where you paid for tuition and got better teachers, facilities, etc.

I’m not sure about @ClassicChump tho- he might have grown up in a cult for all I know.

Interesting to read how everyone was brought up. My father was a surgical nurse. We had rule of "children are to be seen and not heard" during meals and functions etc...He was very strict and you did not dare step out of line. I remember yelling I hate you to him once at about 13yo, I then ran like helll and dove through, not out, my bedroom window. SMDH

My parents weren't strict as much as they were emotionally unavailable and just ignored me until anything I did affected their enjoyment of primetime television.

 

I think the lack of parenting for people my age lead to so many of us growing up to helicopter parents.

My dad got super drunk and texted me that he resents me for being born a few years back. (Classy guy) Sufficed to say, we are not close anymore. I’m sorry you went thru that. It’s no fun and I hate that anyone has to deal with that crap.
