    Right from the SoS website from this fine state:

    Renewing Your License Plate. License plates for individually owned vehicles, light trucks and motorcycles typically expire on the owner's birthday and not at the end of the month. The Secretary of State usually mails renewal notices 45 days before your plates expire.

    Michigan gives no fucks about anything that makes any sense. Same reason why we are the highest insurance in the nation for auto. We have to pay for everyone's lifetime benefits if they get injured badly in an accident.
