The Emergency Banking Relief Act (EBA) was passed on March 9, 1933 to prevent massive withdrawals from banks, referred to as a 'run on the bank' during the banking crisis and the period of economic reform during the Great Depression. The Act legalized the temporary closure of banks called the National Bank holiday which allowed bank examiners to determine which banks were solvent and those that were weak and should be closed.

Nope, most people don't recognize the day that Columbus went to the wrong place and called the people living there the wrong name as a holiday.
