As hilarious as it would be if someone was actually going around inputting their age in days and messing up requesters' data, I think it's more of a formatting thing. So if they say to input it in years, they probably mean they want you to type "27" instead of "1994". And when they say they want it in numbers, they probably mean they want you to just type "27" instead of "27 years".
