My 10 year is coming up, and I'll pass, for sure. I went to the same school (same town) until the last 2 years of high school, and to say people were heinous at the school I graduated from would be an understatement. They called me a whore, even though I was a virgin at the time, and I mean chanted it when I came in the cafeteria to mock me until I stopped eating lunch. They called me ugly [insert name I have since changed]. They even pulled a mean prom prank on me junior year. Yay.

I could not nope out of an event more, especially given rando Grinches from high school have tried to talk to me over the years and act like they weren't fucking Grinches from hell to me. I left that town and didn't come back, thank goodness.




Whateves though, I'm fucking fabulous now.

 

I didn't go to my 10th (amusingly, even though I was in the same building it was being held in about 2 hours before it started). I lived in town and saw no reason to see or spend time with people I could have given a damn less about when I was in school or for that past 10 years. But for the 20th, I'd gotten on facebook about a year before and hooked up with all sorts of people, and then we moved in June when the reunion was in July. Guess I felt homesick and nostalgic or something, plus a great friend was coming in from California who I only would see every few years. So he and I and a friend who went to school with us from K-10 all went together. We got pie-eyed and actually had a good time. it was amusing to see all the nose and boob jobs and how many married women were throwing themselves at my gay male friend, well, because he's hot now, even though they had little time for him back then. It was nice to catch up with some people. And I got to insult my first crush's fiance which was fun. And amazing the number of guys whose asses got even better over the years... and the ones who got WAY worse. LOL

Hardly anyone went for our 25th, and I never planned to go... but I think that was largely because we'd lost two rather popular classmates and everyone had seen each other fairly recently for the funerals. We'll see what the 30th brings us. I'm from a small town of about 16k (actually my town was 2k, went to school next town over) and we had a senior class of 256, and the only private schools had about 50 seniors between them (they were invited to our reunion too, because really, we all knew each other). Most people stay in the area, or at least in South Louisiana. Not really too many of us that live out of state and know anyone anymore.

 

I used to bartend at a lot of weddings and the DJs would always toss in a few songs to get the older crowd out of their seats and onto the dance floor. Stuff like The Twist and Jailhouse Rock. I don't know what I'm gonna do when they try to get elderly me to dance by playing Get Low.

 

You probably know but if you search for "artist name topic" you get a channel with songs in decent quality. Vevo videos have always annoyed me every since I learned this ONE WEIRD TRICK.

 

Oh, I will rise to that challenge.

my 10 year high school reunion was barhopping in my shitty ghetto city. with people i didn't like 10 years ago, and according to facebook, i still don't like. no thanks.

 

Purp's Guilty Secret: I actually kinda liked feeling superior catching up on so many craptastic life stories of some of those folks. Does that make me a bad person? Karma already got them by giving many of them money to go along with their poor choices, and none to go with mine, so...?

 

I mean, I laugh my ass off at the homecoming queen who made fun of me for being ugly and is now super duper fat so...we can be terrible but amazing together?

 

yeah, i could see that too. a majority of them had kids right out of high school, married the father then divorced immediately. so, not doing that would have been my only success. but i would have gone with my high school bff who has a phd and is a college professor, so i would have ridden on her coattails.

 

I have never and will never be cool. I'm alright with that!

Matt was voted Homecoming King AND BLEW OFF HOMECOMING, thus making him even cooler somehow. I cannot relate.

 

yeah, exactly! that sounds so much better. my friends were the metalhead/skater crowd, nerd crowd, and non-ash hole sports crowd. so, people who still don't suck and who i'm still in touch with anyway. i recently perused my year book and there wasn't a single person that i was like "oh what happened to them? i'd catch up with them." reunions seem more like a circlejerk for the trendy popular kids, of which i never was and never will be. so they can do that, while actual cool kids like us stay cool.

Understood. Amusing because my bff is the same. LOL It's funny though to see the ones who decided to be SO responsible in school and right after FINALLY have their teenage-hood as 30+ year olds. Ignoring the kids, blowing off the spouse (not nicely), screwing around, changing careers poorly (ie: getting fired because they're acting like 18 year olds).

I was pretty much a total fuckwit in high school. Probably why I don't know anyone from back then. I only see one guy from high school around the holidays because his brother my brother are best friends. All my exes would probably not want to see me anyways. I was such a dumb fuck back then I didn't realize how awesome my life was. Totally dated some hotties, but was unsure of myself, so had no clue how to handle it and just drove them away. Reunions would just make me have to revisit that, which I have no desire to do. Done a couple alumni events though and those are pretty cool if you want to network.
