I don't understand 1000 dollar tool boxes that you can get an equivalent from China for 30 bucks.

 

My neighbor has a $200 adjustable wrench. I get that it's higher quality than my $10 adjustable wrench, but I can't imagine myself replacing my adjustable wrench 20 times.

 

Matt wears through stuff like crazy with a few exceptions. I'd rather get him something I know he will use and won't destroy in a year, then something cheaper he will either dislike using or drop out of the jeep and break or whatever.

Dude has $$$$$$ in airplane tools though, so I get that he's picky about tool boxes. He likes cheap things that fall apart 90% of the time, but sometimes he's real persnickety.

His last travel toolbox broke apart and he got pissed and now he has a bunch of tools in friggen coolers (which I call toolers) AND CARDBOARD BOXES just all over the damn place. He has a couple super nice huge toolboxes but those are back in Georgia and obvs don't travel around, they sit in the shop or the hangar.

I was fiddling with a husky one but the parts didn't seem as sturdy and the compartments were super meh. I honestly get the impression he wouldn't use it much. It was about as functional as a normal box

 

That's definitely understandable. Wasn't a knock on you or anything, was mostly for myself. I don't really have any expensive tools or anything, and I wouldn't need a nice toolbox for my pizza-delivery-tools or mturk gadgets.

Had a friend years ago, and fresh out of high school he was showing off his 600 dollar toolbox he just bought. The kid worked minimum wage at Wendys, and didn't own a car, and was also in debt for shooting out his parents sliding glass door with a pellet gun if I remember correctly. Quite the knucklehead. priorities.
