i only order stuff if its Amazon shipping it, no third party sellers. i had an issue with my brother buying me a "Sades' headset a few years back. opened it up, plugged it in and it sounded like literal ass. i told him i think it was broken, he sends me the gift receipt email thing. through some wiggling the data, i find out the headset was $20.....NOT A REAL SADES (they cost like $70+ for real ones) and that it was a definite counterfeit set and was being sold buy a third party out of the US seller. had a fun run around with Amazon and the seller trying to exchange the defective pair.
now on the other hand, ive bought tons of stuff from Amazon itself, no issues with counterfeiting or returns

Not to be an alarmist, but you could have that same problem with stuff amazon ships too. This isn't first hand knowledge, but I heard that when sellers ship things to amazon's warehouses, they put all similar items in one big section together. When you buy from a particular seller, they send you the first item available, not necessarily one of the items that seller sent in.
