Hello! I'm new to this forum, so it's nice to meet you all. I just posted my first survey, and I'm hoping to get 500 participants. However, I'm surprised that after 15 hours, I only have 4 people who have completed my survey.

How long can I expect for this survey to be completed? I would appreciate any comments or advice. Thank you!

You use the qualification "HIT approval rate (%) is greater than 99" and the way amazon rounds numbers, it means only people who have 100% approval rate with more than 1000 HITs can do it (rare, as most people eventually get at least 1 rejection). You want to use "HIT approval rate (%) is greater or equal to 99".

you have the approval rating set to GREATER than 99% but since mturk does not round up but down to the next whole number this will screen out anyone who has ever gotten one rejection as there is nothing between 99 and 100. So you are limiting yourself to a very small pool of workers equal to or greater than 99% would be better or honestly greater than 98 if you want a high approval rating either would include many good workers who have approval ratings between 99 and 100%

 

change:

"HIT approval rate (%) is greater than 99" (this prevents HIT acceptance from universally every worker)



to

"HIT approval rate (%) is greater than 98" (this includes basically every good worker)

 

Thank you all so much for your replies! I already made the survey public, and I'm having trouble changing the HIT approval rate. I went into my "Batch Details" and tried to change the settings. But my screen looks like this. Any ideas on how I can change the HIT approval rate? Thanks!

I "think" you're going to have to pull the study, make the correction, and publish it again. But, there could be a workaround while it's still active that I'm unaware of. Hopefully someone else will have a solution for you, if one is available.

Well, I sent a message to half a dozen people real quick, and they've all said the same thing I said, but that doesn't mean we're right. lol I'll ask a few more people to see if anyone has a better solution for you.

So essentially, I would take down this current survey, and repost a new survey with the new HIT approval rate. And I would also change from 500 to 496 expected participants.

I won't have to repay my fees right?

Correct...except it would be 495 instead of 496 since @emamaya is another unicorn with a perfect approval rating. :emoji_grinning:

I'm going to say no because a lot of requesters that pull batches to fix would be pretty unhappy if they had to pay fees again, but that is honestly just an assumption.:emoji_thinking: @NBadger tagged @ChrisTurk . I would give him a few minutes to respond in case he has a better solution and an answer to your question about fees.

Looks like you'll definitely need to pull, fix, and republish. Two people have confirmed the fees should refund to you immediately when you pull it.
