When I go to "manage extensions" in Chrome, it tells me
"These extensions may soon no longer be supported
Remove or replace them with similar extensions from the Chrome Web Store"
and MTurk Suite is on the list. Their link to the Chrome Store isn't really helpful though. What do I replace MTS with, if anything?

Nothing we can do, unfortunately. We can only hope that @Kadauchi would be generous enough to find time to update MTS to Google Manifest V3. All extensions using the older Manifest V2 are now being gradually phased out by Google. We'll probably be fine for a few more months, but it's hard to say exactly when MTS will stop working.

Also, I'm not sure @Kadauchi visits the forum often enough to notice me tagging him, so it's probably a good idea for someone to reach out to him outside of the forum and ask about this. Maybe someone already has.

Alternative extensions to MTS, as recommended by Google:

There is an old reddit thread about this exact issue where he said it would be updated. That was years ago though and I'm not sure if he forgot about it or changed his mind about updating it. Also anyone with advanced workflows is going to need the edit this cookie extension updated for the same issue.

back in 2009-ish I used to go to burger king and turk and wrote every survey title and requester and dollar amount of every hit I did as a list in a paper notebook with a pencil or pen. I would start a new page every day. and the workers and customers at burger king looked at me with suspicion. but that wasn't a common sight back then.

by the way it wasn't a good system because I had to look at every past day's hits in the lists to see if I had done a hit on a different day. if we go back to that, I will probably use a bunch of rolodexes. side bonus having a bunch of rolodexes out on a table at a burger king is much more normal looking.

the more I think about it, a few large rolodexes might be a reasonable replacement for mts in the future. except for the people who only do surveys. they would need too many rolodexes. I mean obviously it wouldn't be as good, but does anyone see any real problems with it or have better ideas?

does anyone know what date, or about how long we have, until mts stops working?

I need to know how much time I have to get my rolodexes.

If it's not updated then likely until the end of the year. Maybe there'll be a workaround to keep it going for a bit longer. But the phasing out of old extensions has already started (last month), so for all we know MTS could stop working any time Google releases a new major Chrome version (every 4-6 weeks, I believe).

do you remember if there was a script or something that kept track of whether or not we had done a specific hit before mts? there is a long span of time that I don't remember how we did that. to avoid doing the same hit twice.

I would have to use my brain to try to remember that kind of stuff and I'd much rather just wait and see what happens to MTS first before resorting to thinking about it.

iirc we just got rejected a lot for doing the same hit repeatedly and then complained about it on mturk forums

I wish @MmmTurkeyBacon would come back! the mmmturkeybacon scripts were an awesome a la carte way of improving earnings, speed, etc. on mturk. I used some of those scripts until they stopped working.

    Hmm.

I really don't want to go back to refreshing the latest HITs page manually.

Prolific has been so much better than Turk. Too bad they put you in timeout if you do too many studies tho.

Hello all, first time posting. Normally I'm a pretty quiet Turker but I actually have been having issues with my Firefox Mturk Suite extension for the past week; no parts of it will function at all. In the Hit Finder when I click on Find Hits the button goes from white to green, but no HITs load. I have tried all the usual fixes; checked my filter settings, updated the extension, updated Firefox, did a clean reinstall, turned off tracker protection and ad blockers but nothing has helped.

It sounds like yours is still working rsmath, so maybe it is just me and my old Windows 7 computer on a 'special' version of Firefox updates. But I just wanted to add my experience to the pool. I have been trying to find info for the past few days about this and this is the first thread I have found that addresses it, so thank you Anna_Morphic for starting this thread. I'm sorry to hear you and others are having issues on Chrome as well though. :(

I use MTS with Chrome, but I'd consider the FF version if Chrome extension does not get updated to be supported.

Ah I see, thank you for clarifying.

So I need to edit my original statement a bit: While the Hit Finder isn't working, I realized I can still see some of the info it provides on the regular HITS screen if I hover over the TurkerView rating symbols next to the Requester's names (see image). So there's a workaround at least.

(incidentally the TurkerView script has been giving me more problems lately not saving my API (thus the exclamation point) but that may be unrelated. However I am having a new problem with MTurk Suite also not saving my API now, so I have to re input them into both services every day. )

Hey all I have an update. MTurk Suite is working again for me on Firefox!

Not sure why, though I did recently mess with my Firefox privacy settings again for other reasons. My settings have been reset but no biggie. Hit Finder and Catcher both working as normal, not sure about the Tracker part since I haven't found a good HIT to do >_< But honestly I didn't use and if I recall correctly it didn't track properly before, so we'll see.

The TurkerView Dashboard still had my API saved from last night, which I previously mentioned I was also having issues with. That's what possessed me to check the Finder. :)
