I want to begin by saying this isn't a done deal yet (though I've been quietly floating the idea in the daily for weeks now lol), I'm putting this in announcements but its more of a pre-announcement discussion.
When Turker
View first started as a strapping young website everyone who knew what it was also knew what TH was.
Unfortunately (especially for researchers), that is no longer the case (we don't matter anymore :emoji_sob::emoji_sob::emoji_sob:) haha. So I'm considering shoving all of your beautiful, shining faces...
into a deep dark corner of TV where no one can find your shenanigans.
More or less having two completely separate domains
really creates a problem w/ registering & authenticating since most folks who log into one service kind of expect to be logged into both if they're the "same" thing. Ditto for branding (ew, but you get the idea, two names for the same "service"/site is confusing to newcomers). Seamless auth can kind of be done cross-site but its way easier if the sites are on the same domain.
So I'm planning on moving the forum over to a subdomain on TV. It'll be like
https://forum.turkerview.com
As a user you wont really need to do anything & probably wont notice anyway. All links will auto-forward to the new subdomain so if you clicked an old turkerhub.com bookmark you'd end up at the same "place."
So this is kind of a heads up that you may see the forum "re-brand" into TV's forum instead of the standalone website it currently is. Feel free to throw rocks, riot (+1 free riot every day this weekend to commemorate this horrible change), or let me know if you happen to have a real opinion
or [bless your heart if you don't know better by now] experience with this sort of thing.
