I did help pay for stuff when I started my part time job training program, but it's done for now, so no money from me, I plan on starting to look for a permanent job now that I references or since I don't have to go to work at noon, I can start doing more tasks at mturk once things start to pick up again.

My kid does all the dishwasher dishes and unloads them. However, I do use the dishes and notice when things aren't clean. The Cascade pods seem to work well, and on Amazon the ginormous tub of them is pretty inexpensive.

I always used gel until I was at Big Lots one day and saw a bag of the pods for like almost nothing $$$. Grabbed them to test out. They were Cascade and they worked pretty well.

I will add that I have a fancy schmancy dishwasher with several "bonus" jets and extra heat and all kinds of nifty add ons that is going to cost me a fortune to replace when this one dies because now I simply cannot go back to a vanilla dishwasher. So I'm not sure if the super expensive dishwasher the people who owned this house before me bought makes a difference?

Why on earth would you wash the dishes when you have a machine to wash them for you?

Not that I know of, but once they all approve you get the exclude qual and are never ever allowed to do the batch again.

Yeah, my kid prewashes nothing. He says what's the point in a dishwasher if he has to prewash (he does rinse)? If he has to prewash, it becomes "handwash dishes" and those are my job.

(He has a good point, and that is the best argument he could have ever made with me because I already hand wash enough stuff that I won't put in the dishwasher.)

The owners manual on my dishwasher says something along the lines of, "dude don't fucking rinse the shit. scrape it if you want. but you have a dishwasher. these are supposed to be efficient. you're ruining the efficiency if you wash and wash again you fuckhead. save the water. be kind to the planet" - paraphrasing.

I was trying to reference the commercial but I don't watch commercials enough to have that memorized so I settled for a low quality content message instead.

when I bought this house it was the first time I had a dishwasher in many ages. I kept on handwashing forever because I figured that was more energy efficient.

Looked that up and found out I was full of it. Running a full dishwasher uses far less energy and resources than handwashing the equivalent amount of dishes.

I'll never go back to handwashing all dishes again (I still hand wash some stuff like pots and pans and baking sheets and Pyrex because I like spotless Pyrex and dishwashers do not remove those baked on tiny brown flecks that appear and I like to scrub those off.)
