i only had cats until i was old enough to get my own dogs and be 100% responsible for them, but my great-great aunt and uncle (who babysat me as a toddler while my dad worked) had a super super sweet cocker spaniel named jessie who was obsessed with me, and a husky named shaun. the husky lost his mind in his old age and was always super stressed and unhappy around people, so they built him an entire enclosed porch/three-season room and private fenced in part of the yard so he could chill on his own for his remaining years. i never got to interact with him much but i always watched him through the window and distinctly remember him looking so peaceful hanging out in the sun, and i still think about how awesome they were to do that for him. and i still miss the sweet cocker spaniel.
