    > Many workers quit a survey halfway, but if many do, data quality could be compromised ... so please don't ...

This saddens me — if it's true not only for those requesters who include such a statement, but also for those who don't mention it (and those who, rather than saying the above, instead remind us that we can freely exit at any time). ... The ability to exit a survey (at any time or for any reason) is important to moi, and I do it a lot. I'd hate to feel "guilty" about damaging someone's data.

This was my grandfathers fave song - he worked on the railroads... I can still play it on the piano. :)

Getting older really is strange. There's this whole cognitive dissonance between who you were, who you thought you would be and who you turn into. It's not bad, just strange.

I'm only 30, but I never ever ever ever hoped or dreamed or expected I'd be in my position :p

Cognitive dissonance is a great way of putting it!
Agreed it's totally not bad... and is really, really strange. All the time. :)

I don't know what your position is (unless you mean Turk). I hope you're happy with your position, whatever that might be. I have so many regrets. You know that series of survey questions? The ones where they ask you if you're living your ideal life or if you would change anything? I'm like hell no, and hell yes, I would do so much differently, but then again would I? It took a lot of grief to get to a place where I actually feel genuine happiness on a day to day basis, so who knows. It just is what it is. My life might look odd to other people, but that doesn't matter to me anymore.

This saddens me, too. Especially as it's not supposed to be true. And I generally laugh at the statement. The data, the work, is not not ''theirs'' until it's paid for...If it's rejected, abandoned, returned partly done, it's supposed to be deleted. It's not simply theirs because they have the ability to harvest it in part. To claim that we must finish what we start is asking us, the workers, to relinquish one of our few rights. The right to refuse...So this, to me, sounds like either a misconception on the requester's part..or an outright lie to force labor we have the singular right to refuse....but what do I know? I'm only 73 and have been doing this particular type of work for 10 years and have no experience in the workplace.................or the ability to perceive a flim-flam when I see one..

No, it's bad. Because it's a basic lack of what you were, and, are now, not any more.

Ohhhh... I just was going on each term literally - which may be what Joie was thinking. I didn't realize it was an entire psychological theory and after reading about it wouldn't relate that to aging in general or to me at all.

I like being 49. And I think that my whole life is still part of who I am, etc. etc.

It is strange though to get older and go over to your "kids" (be they nieces, foster kids, etc) house and have them cook dinner :)

I'm guessing refresh? Not trying to oversimplify but that's where I would start.
