Well I'm thankful for y'all, b/c I didn't even get an email about this. This sucks.

I appreciate that... been on Cloud for 4 years and am grateful I was designated as a preferred worker after the recent debacle. I feel bad for those who were demoted to 1 star as it doesn't feel right given the arbitrary reasons. We shall see how it all plays out.

 

They are one we've tried to reach out to but never had a reply. May have to resort to public pressure if this rating system doesn't get sorted. I have an account there and don't really work there much and have a 4.4. But people with good stats that are on daily got a 1, something is broken in that system for sure.

this VRAPI? they possibly going to shuffle elsewhere and look for more workers too?

i think sergey was one of the reqs that side pulled me into a Jan6 project (hell who is gonna care about me talking about a project on a platform thats about to be dead now) that had CRAZY videos to scrub. the sergeys on platform were teletubbies to the videos i scrubbed for WEEEEEEEEEKS (insane pay too)

Oh, this makes me really sad. I mean, I think we had all seen the writing on the wall lately, but it's still kind of hard to believe. I always appreciated the communities that popped up regarding Mturk, and genuinely was/am grateful for all the help people used to give each other. I made more money because of the help received and hope I helped people out a little when the work was around more. Sounds sentimental, I guess, but the platform really meant something to me and the people involved do, too.

I still look back with fondness on HITs from Sergey, Noah, Giphy, etc. Some great Masters HITs that paid insane amounts.

 

How could you forget about Giphy when 3/4 of every daily for the past 4 years is nothing but Giphy?

 

I have been on a slump all day with the news, I was hoping to at least have a few more months to prepare, but I guess there is not much to be done. Hopefully I can figure out a way to continue to support myself with online work otherwise I guess it is time for a change. Maybe I will log back in in a few months with cool stories about the outside world, and hopefully all of us are doing really well by then. When I look back, I recall mostly times like this where something was pulling the rug from under us, like the move from the MTG site, the old upgrade to the new worker site, the switch from payments, and now the actual site closing down.

 

We may no longer have MTurk, but at least we still have our pride.
