Personality is dynamic, not static, though.
It changes with context, and the personality tendencies change over time.

You're right, but it's the best means I can see of picking a partner. Nothing stays the same but most people have basic qualities that are more or less always present.

Just a warning to folks doing SD science HITs... they reject a lot. Without good reason either. I get 32 rejects from them last week after arguing with them about initially 68 rejects. The logic behind the rejections was bullshit and they are doing it blanket across everyone based on what I've read on TO. I'm not doing them because I dropped down to 98% and need to get back up and I know I'll get rejections cuz they are cheapskate assholes like that. Fair warning!!!!

 

IMO appearance is much more stable than personality.
Both degrade over time, but appearance degrades much more slowly and predictably.
And in some cases, it improves.

Being with someone simply for their appearance just seems incredibly boring to me. My husband and I have so much fun debating and joking. I can't imagine if our personalities didn't mesh or I didn't find him funny and smart as well as attractive.
