Do any of you tech field peoples have the CompTIA certs?

I'm looking at doing self study to get up to the A+ level but not sure if its worth it. My brother did the cisco route a few years ago but no longer works in the industry so I'm not sure which certs are actually looked for nowadays as more than just filler on a job application.
