working on my credit score now cause this place we are renting now is not handicap accessible even if the landlord put in a ramp I would still have to deal with the inside steps and the tiny bathroom I can't safely move around, I hate this house a little more every day. The Sad thing is years ago we passed on the opportunity to buy a ranch cause we "needed" more room....I'd kill for that place now.

I'm glad I don't have to too much worry about that because I can get a VA loan but at the same time I don't wanna waste my VA loan on crap and be stuck paying that back in a place I hate. Though the option of selling a house ultimately beats the other option of spending $10,000 or more a year on a place that I don't own and have no stake in. Also I took your advice on the credit card a couple months back, I haven't even used it yet but now I have a credit score which is like awesome

 

Well it's about 24% and then there's a 10% penalty ... so yea I didn't do it lightly. It was after leaving a job so I couldn't do it as a loan which would be the better option. Had I known more at the time I would have rolled it into an IRA first which can be withdrawn for home buying without paying that 10% penalty. But even still I say it was absolutely worth it!

I'm pretty certain you can use you VA loan more than once. You just can't have two VA loans at the same time. I didn't use mine on my first house but did when I moved into my new place.

 

Holy shit batman. Thanks for the knowledge bomb on transferring it to an IRA first. Good to know. I have to figure out where I really want to be first, but I've already learned 2 new things today!

 

I went with the highly underrated seduce and marry into an old money family plan using nary but my sunny disposition and perky tats. Of course, this plan doesn't work for everyone but it is incredibly effective!

Personally, there's nothing I'd really want to see stop outright. There's a lot of stuff that makes me roll my eyes, but it isn't enough to directly address, or even put on an ignore list. I just think it'd be better in its own thread. That way people can go back to it and talk about it at length. It works in more ways than one because there's a lot of stuff I see in these threads earlier in the day/the previous day I want to talk about but feel awkward about bringing up hours later. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

 

Flush socket pools? I had this issue once last year.

 

Someone took my advice... yikes lol. I would say use it though. Just be careful. It will increase your score the most when you A) Keep a balance revolving instead of immediately paying it off, B)Keep the amount owed at less than 50% of the available credit and C)Most importantly, never, EVER miss a payment lol. Like go without food before missing a payment. Having the card but not making payments won't really do that much to help you. Just keep the balance low enough you could pay it off if you needed to. When we got serious about it we got a starter card, then we opened a store credit account, and then a real charge card. Then we had enough credit to buy a car, and a year later the house.
