    Your score on one measure would be true for 1 out of 200 people. Your score on a second measure was also 1 out of 200 people. Assuming these two things are independent of each other (BIG assumption that needs to be clearly understood) then only 1 out of 40,000 people would be that outside the norm on both.

    He also seems to suggest in the first message that you just didn't answer one of the questions appropriately. No idea how to judge that one.

    The quote from his first message was "a response that fails to answer the stated question". That doesn't sound to me like an attention check or I think he would say it was an attention check. It sounds more like a write in response that he didn't think was appropriate for the question, but I'd need to know survey content to have any hope of determining what he meant or whether he's being reasonable with it.
