Where's my collard greens and pinto beans?

 

Peach, help a lady out. I'm trying to remember a club I went to in 1994 that was in an old house, it had a pool outside that looked like it was filled with green jello. Ughhh, you are probably not ancient like me though.

 

The area I grew up, Auckland, is kind of odd, in terms of layout. I think it probably is the antithesis of urban sprawl. Auckland is the largest city in the country, but I believe that's because the Auckland region is so extensive. The city is situated on an isthmus which is only 10 miles wide at the most.

My home town was a 30 or 40 minute drive to the central business district, so not that far. But we lived at the base of a volcano and had a farm on the other side of the road. Growing up, I always saw either sheep or cows grazing in the fields.

So I am well acquainted with the smell of cow. And cow poop. Not so much the, err, closeup experience you describe.

How often do you go back?

With that many cows, I have story upon story of "close encounters". My ex husband asked me once why every story and every scar I had started out with "Well there I was, workin on the farm..."

Very rarely. It's just too long a trip and too expensive. I traveled back with my wife and daughter in July 2016, but before that was for my mother's funeral when she passed away unexpectedly, six or seven years ago.

where in Houston do you remember? i'm trying to think of all the clubs i know of in houston but a pool with green looking jello isn't coming to mind. i googled it too but all that is coming up are Houston pool halls

I don't think it is there any longer. I believe that it was in the Village and there was a Blue Agave nearby there at the time. I have tried googling it with no luck. I have some film footage from the inside from 94 and Blue October was performing that night, was just trying to remember the name of the place to label the tape
